Both a celebrated art house director and a maker of commercial, crowd pleasing hits, Steven Soderbergh has gone back and forth into the mainstream, creating films that are stunning in their technical and intellectual brilliance.
‘Ocean’s Thirteen’ steals top box-office slot with $37.1 million
June 11, 2007 (LOS ANGELES) - Audiences anted up for the Warner Bros. caper “Ocean’s Thirteen,” the third of George Clooney and Brad Pitt’s casino-heist romps, which debuted as the top flick with $37.1 million, according to studio estimates Sunday. Read more

Ocean’s Thirteen Review: Hello! Well, as all of you know, Ocean’s Thirteen opened today and I imagine many of you have already seen it and have your own opinions but I will share mine. I loved Ocean’s Eleven. I think Ocean’s Twelve, had it not been compared to Ocean’s Eleven would have been better received. It wasn’t THAT bad. It was just completely different from the first one. All three movies are very smart. Ocean’s Thirteen was filmed beautifully. I love the way Soderbergh captures Las Vegas. The lighting he uses makes you feel like you’re there. I’ve never noticed that in any other film except for Ocean’s Eleven and now Thirteen.Â
I thought parts of the film at the beginning were a little slow and it wasn’t as funny as I expected it to be. But, I loved it! It was great fun. I think the humor was probably subtle and the more you see it, the more you get. I really liked the premise. If Julia Roberts had been in the film, I think I would have iked it as much as I liked Ocean’s Eleven. I really enjoy the dynamics between her and George. Ocean’s Thirteen is definitely a must see for the summer. It’s a lot of fun and you feel good when you leave.
